Paris in the Rain

It wasn’t the usual soft Paris drizzle. This was a hard, relentless rain. A put-away-your-camera, blowing sideways rain. But it was pretty.

October 18, 2012Some very nice B/W captures, Nichole.
How is the book selling? I have it on my wish list.
Is the long line for the Louvre? I haven’t been to Paris in decades.

October 18, 2012Hi California Girl,
Thank you!
The book is doing really well. Much better than I had hoped. So I am super thankful.
The line is for the Musee d’Orsay. It was HUGE. Mainly because it was raining on a Sunday (everything else is closed). I wanted to see my book in the store, but we didn’t have time to wait. So I just snapped some photos of the crazy line.

November 3, 2012oops! … I say this to the “Paris in Color” blog…gah.
It looks BEST in color, imo, but really… so…I’m sure there’s a perfect word in French for it – so melancholy and dreamy in b and w.

November 19, 2012Hi Nichole,
What a charming site! So glad I found it through Daily Candy. I love your shots of Paris, both in color and in black in white, although on some grey days there, the distinction blurs
Your site and the fabulous recipes are like a gift in itself… and the chance to win books? Icing on a fabulous millefeuille! Thank you for the opportunity.
So excited to hear about David Flynn’s cafe. My husband loves Parisian espresso, but I have always found French cappucino disappointing. Seems that they don’t use the dark French roast that I am used to stateside, which is ironic.
The pictures of the Maison Gatti chairs made me nostalgic, but I was shocked at the pricetag, mainly because they are so ubiquitous … gives ‘overhead’ a new meaning!
Can’t wait to share your site with my daughter, who will be going to France for part of her Junior semester next Fall, and with all my other Fracophile friends…
Best wishes,
Beth
