Paris

Guess what? We’re moving to Paris.

Next week.

There’s a big part of me that can’t believe I typed that, and there’s another that feels it’s perfectly sane to move to a place I adore. Ever since a honeymoon stroll along the Seine (that’s me circa 2003 in the blurry photo above), I vowed I would live among the beauty and history that makes Paris special.

I’ve felt like a pigeon with a baguette since the moment it was a reality, and even though we’ve moved out of our house, donated or disseminated 75% of our possessions, and questioned our sanity (sometimes daily), I haven’t felt this alive in years. The fear of the unknown is exhilarating, and I’m high on excitement.

For now it’s a three-month stint, but since my husband and I are both consultants/freelancers, we’re able to settle where the wind blows. For now that is Rue St. Paul.

I hope to find some beautiful things to share with you from across the pond, and look forward to staying connected right here. I know I will miss my family and friends, but thanks to twitter (come play!), it’s a whole lot easier to stay connected.

BTW, if you are in Paris, you’ll likely find me in Cafe Beaubourg or Chez Omar, my favorite restaurants pictured above.

Wow. I’ve been to Paris three times and it is my very favorite city in the world. So beautiful. Carpe Diem! I live abroad now in the UAE and I know the excitement you feel about boxing up the house and hitting the road, but it’s not Paris! Sigh.

That’s beyond exciting! Perhaps we can get together for our little planned dinner at one of your favorite cafes? I would love that, but alas, traveling is not in the cards this year!

I’m happy for blogging- one can move almost anywhere and continue where she left off. I look forward to your French finds and treasures. Good luck with the move, Nichole! I am feeling your excitement.

WOW…I've always thought of moving to PARIS as well…but seems so far away and Ive never been there yet. You should write about your experience and how you managed to find a place to live etc Perhaps to inspire & help others make a choice to move there….I'd love to hear about it.
    Happy new year!

My first visit by way of Mrs. French. Wow, you are living the dream.. I do hope you post all about life in France and how you made the move…do you have children? I think it would be so much fun to at least just try living in France, even if just for a few months!
    Good luck!

I’ve spent the last two evenings with you…reading almost every Paris blog post. Such inspiration. I’m returning for my 3rd visit to the beautiful City of Lights next month. Your pictures remind me of places I’ve been, and helped me make a list of ‘I must go there!’ places. So glad I found you.
