Obvious State

Evan and I stumbled upon this sweet schoolyard near the Hotel de Ville and couldn't stop talking about how great it would be to send our children to a school with a similar playground. Isn't it pretty? It was clearly designed to incorporate nature, and it's such a peaceful place.

School wasn't in session then, but I imagine it has a calming effect on children. Of course the children in my fantasy were impeccably dressed, polite and nothing like real children.

Wow, that is beautiful. I wanna play there with my sketchbooks, a yummy coffee and just be. :)

It does look very peaceful … and btw …I like the “nothing like real children” so much …

I love your pictures… It makes me sad though because I just don’t have the patience for photography.

The reason that I’m lamenting this is that I have a good eye for composition. But I just can’t wrap my brain around camera settings. So I take lovely grainy pictures that show a lot of potential…but fall short of the mark.

I’ll just have to make due with visiting lovely sites like yours!

Love that image! There’s a similar park in the Montmarte near the loft that we rent whenever we are in Paris. Funny that I had the same conversation with my husband when I was sitting there sketching while a bunch of kids were playing around, especially one little boy climbing some sort of pole and yelling, “Regardez-moi, Papa! Regardez-moi!”

Ahhh, your Parisian posts are making me want to make a return trip really soon!

Yes, if real children were there, the flower blooms would probably be little shriveled corpses decorating the sidewalk, given my son’s new found joy in pulling flowers and leaves off plants.
I had a friend in England whose mother just about died when her son “beheaded” EVERY plant in her lovely English garden while playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by himself.
“Boy” seems to be the common theme- let’s hope your schoolyard is for an all-girls school!

The only problem I foresee is that if the twins’ schoolyard looked like that, I’d never want to leave and get any actual grown up stuff done.
