Your Friendly Local Crepe Lady
Ever since we returned from Paris in March, I've been craving crepes and trying to perfect my own recipe. I've had marginal success with the latter, but really miss the crepes from the cart outside of the Supermarché on Rue St. Antoine.
Lately I've been obsessed with finding crepes in New York, and haven't had much luck. They're good for a sweet fix, but I've yet to walk away from the experience satisfied. I attribute much of the disappointment to the delivery system. What I really want is a gritty cart/street crepe, and anything that's served on elegant china embellished with a dusting of pretty powdered sugar doesn't cut it.
Well, the universe threw me some grit. For right here in New York, a lady whips up crepes in the corner of an internet cafe on 49th street.
