Bike + Wood = Cool Wood Bike

Looky what I found.

Evan and I were on the Upper West Side this morning, and while we couldn't find a deli that would give us change for the parking meter (what else is new?), we did find this cool bike. Thankfully the owner was nowhere in sight, because I must have looked like a deranged stalker as I feverishly snapped these photos. But look at that wood! It was worth it.

Side note: I have to remind myself that taking photos in New York is completely different than taking photos in Paris. In New York you could approach a store with a ladder, climb up, take shots, and do the whole thing while whistling Jimmy Cracked Corn, and no one would blink. In Paris, you're chased away from a storefront for pointing your camera in the direction of the gum on the sidewalk.

Why? Can't figure it out.

THat bike is amazing! I wish I knew my way around wicker and bamboo, I'd be all over it.

love love love this bike! how awesome!

as for paris… something tells me they might be a bit more refined. perhaps a wee bit more sophisticated. nyc is pure abandon. it's built on the "do what you want. be who you are" mantra.

That was one fantastic bike! I've heard of having wooden bikes, but I've never actually seen one.

So weird about Paris. Maybe if you do your best Clueless American Tourist you could get away with more photos? White athletic shoes and large jean shorts would probably help…

Unless you're in chinatown or any other asian grocery store. They WILL chase you around and demand that you trash your photos.

What a fun, faulous bike. I guess the Parisians think we're all photo crazed Americans???
