Edith Wharton

"The tranquil majesty of the architectural lines, the wonderful blurred winter lights, the long lines of lamps garlanding the avenues & the quays..."

Wonderful words from Edith Wharton in this New York Times piece. I adore Paris in the winter, and the image of blurred winter lights really struck me.

Most people think of Spring when they think of optimal Paris weather. But for me, there is nothing better than ducking into a warm cafe after a brisk winter stroll.

What say you?

I say there is never a bad day in Paris. I've been lucky enough to see it in all seasons but the New Years Eve I spent there with my husband (before children, of course) was pure magic. The image of the "blurred winter lights" really resonates. Ducking into a charming cafe sounds lovely!

I love Edith Wharton, and although I found The Age of Innocence a little slow and hard to read at first, I enjoyed it nonetheless. (:

Definitely! Even tho I was in Paris during the months of May and June, it was occasionally cold and chilly and those were my favorite days!

I was in Paris for Thanksgiving a few years ago, I loved all the slate grey in the skies! Shows off all the beautiful details~

The last time I was in Paris it was overcast and drizzled on and off. It was wonderful still.

I went to Paris in the spring, but I'd love to go during the autumn or winter.

I think Paris is one of those timeless cities that you fall in love with every season for completely different reasons.

Winter, spring, summer and fall. They all work for me. But if I could only pick one it would be spring. Which is why I'm headed there for my 30th in April ;-)

Winter is my favourite season so I'm going to have to agree with you… The song tends to influence people ( I love Par-is in the Spring-timmmmeeee…) but once you combine snow, foggy skies and lights, you're going to get magic.

I'll take anytime in Paris. I'm not going to be picky
