Wait. Who's That on Top of Jane?
It's Ken Wheaton. Who is Ken Wheaton? A favorite twitter follow turned real-life friend who wrote a book. A book entitled The First Annual Grand Prairie Rabbit Festival that's out today, so you can finally get your hands on it. I got my hands on it, and so far my hands have enjoyed turning the pages at a feverish pace (I'm just about done). Given what I know about Ken, I'm not surprised that the book is funny, witty, insightful and engaging (reasons I follow him on twitter, see). It's set in Louisiana--Ken's home state--and centers around a priest, his parish and a rival parish from a neighboring town. It's as thought-provoking as it is fun, but more on that later. For now, I wanted to celebrate Ken's debut novel by suggesting you head over to Amazon and check it out for yourself. Not many people have read the book since it just started shipping today, but Josh Sternberg's review closely mirrors many of my own thoughts so far. Check it out here. PS. Evan is a little stunned that another book is within ten feet of my coveted pretty yellow version of Pride and Prejudice. But then I pointed out that the font on Ken's book coordinates quite nicely with Jane, right? Yes, I am that sick.
