Chalk with Character

There's this great bar a few blocks from our old apartment in the Marais. It's a Scottish Pub, and given that I'm married to a Scotch addict, it's a place we know well. While I am not a Scotch drinker, I do enjoy the exterior chalk drawings. The handwriting is incredible, and the letters are so whispy and close together that I find it hard to believe that it was written by hand. The cartoons are indicative of the sense of humor of the staff and it's a fun place to have a drink. The Auld Alliance 80 Rue François Miron, Paris

I've been there with my hubby. It's in the Quartin Saint Paul, right ? And Petit Pan shop is almost facing the pub, in the same street. Such a great area in Paris, that's true !

love that penmanship!

I love the penmanship on those chalkboards! Chalk can be hard to write with so these images are quite impressive. Sounds like a fun place to stop in for a drink.

The handwriting is fantastic. I was always so proud of my penmanship when I was a kid, but I have gotten sloppy as I get older!

So funny! My good friend Simone bartends there. I've spent many a Monday trivia night at the Auld Alliance.

I am so incredibly jealous now. I mean, I was jealous before, but… I absolutely adore Scottish pubs. It's one thing I miss about Europe and Britain so much – pubs. There's a few Irish pubs around LA to go to, not too many Scottish ones, though, and I'm Scottish so it's sort of a matter of principle :)

I know, Jen! That is just wrong. I can't imagine a classroom without a chalkboard. It feels so corporate.
