Paris Color: Purple

How do you feel about purple?

When I think of it, I'm transported back to sixth grade.

In sixth grade I loved two things: Duran Duran and purple. And if I'm being honest, I could tweak those to read John Taylor and lavender, since it was essential to profess unyielding devotion to the Duran of your choice, and "purple" was uncool.

In early seventh grade, I broke ties with both John (sniff!) and Lavender, and have never looked back. Purple is just one of those colors that never comes up in conversations or thoughts about home decor or fashion.

What about you? What's your position on purple?

I'm split on purple…it reminds me of bubble gum in some ways. I like lavender and have some in my sage/white/lavender bathroom and I love the really deep of eggplant and aubergine…the rich, royal purple that borders on black/red. Purple as in a purple crayon is a little too "pedestrian" for me (but I do admit I have a pair of "purple" Betsey Johnson socks…go figure!!). :)

well, while i'm not apt to wear it as much, i love purple because it signifies spring to me-dark buds, crocus petals, etc…as soon as i start seeing purple popping up from the ground i get VERY happy.

I like shades of lavendar with taupe and cream.
A shot of rich purple with other saturated colors can be stunning.
So purple yes in small doses.

I have to say, i have never liked purple but duran duran yes. I was told that people who liked purple lived in chaos or could not sit still. then i think about the garden and the color of lavender and the french country side and i feel calm go figure!! i guess it depends what object is wearing the color!

I love purple – it's always been one of my fave colors. The deep rich eggplant tones are my fave!

i love purple! at least i should considering on of my logo colors is aubergine. i do prefer the deeper values of the color to the "jordan-almond" colored choice — but i find if you add a little grey to any toothache inducing color it helps cut the sweet-factor.

I actually wrote of my love of the color here :: http://www.designbabylon.com/2010/01/20/color-love-in-awe-of-aubergine/

I'm in love with purples right now. Mostly deep almost eggplant purples. But love it!

I confess that I love purple, all shades of it, back when I loved Simon Le Bon and now that I love my husband. I have a lot of purple tops but in terms of home decor I don't have much of it. When we were dating, my husband tried to find me a "purple rabbit candle" because on our 2nd date I wore a purple top, he noticed I had a lot of candles at home, and I had a pet rabbit.

My childhood bedroom was lavender and my birthstone is amethyst, so I am of course very fond of the color. When it comes to fashion, I like to incorporate it in moderation, through my jewelry and accessories.
