Paris Color: The Perfect Gray

The perfect gray

I'm so happy I found this photo.

I took it to capture what I consider the perfect shade of gray.

When I first looked up, I noticed how it matched the detail of the building almost freakishly. But then I was struck by how uniform and flat the sky looked. It was obviously cloudy, hence the gray, but the smooth, even texture made it seem almost fake.

There was a storm on the horizon, but not a billowy, menacing cloud in sight. Just a continuous, still gray. It was at once peaceful and a bit unnerving.

Caitlin –

And we're not alone. I often wonder why so many of us are drawn to this absence of color.

Beautiful! Gray is one of my favorite "colors"

The blue undertones are lovely. I'm thinking a small room, with the grey of the top half, a strip of white molding and the base in a wallpaper similar to the roof.

Kim – I am over on twitter now talking about paint colors. I will post what I find out. Seems a lot of people have already painted walls in similar shades.

Wow, that is an amazing picture! I've been trying to decide what color to paint my bedroom and gray was on my list of possibles. This photo just may have convinced me to go with it!!

@ Kim and Nichole – For just a perfect, pure gray, I use Dolphin Fin by Behr. No blue, purple or tan undertones, just clean gray!
