The Roads Most Traveled

Montmartre, Paris Montmartre, Paris You wouldn't know it by looking at them, but these are some of the most highly trafficked streets in Montmartre: the roads most traveled. Even as well-trodden as they are, it's still possible to capture a moment of tranquility. Today as I stood shoulder to shoulder on a stuffed, smelly New York City subway car, where there are no such moments, I thought about these winding streets. I don't know if it was the stress of my commute, the fear of missing my train, an insane workload, or all of it, but I wished I had a Jetson-esque hovercar that would have transported me out of there to a quiet cobblestone street. As I fought for a few inches on the subway, my thoughts waxed more toward roads less traveled. Popular thoughts in general these days.

Ah you are certainly make me want to get to Montmarte ASAP! I didn't realise it had hilly areas too. Sigh.
I think the best thing about photos though, is that it does allow you to escape and relive those moments where you weren't cramming into a subway stressing about work. Thank goodness you can capture so many beautiful details so that we can all relive it with you. Thank you for sharing.

Stephanie –

I feel like I am in a long distance relationship with Paris. Sometimes it's painful. :)

It hurts to be away from Paris. I can relate and I feel your pain.

and btw I love your blog. sometimes reading it hurts too – in a good way, in the same way you were dreaming of Montmartre.

What is it about pink houses that is so lovely? Some day I will have one … and hopefully in France! Your pictures keep me going during the work week. And I thank you for that.

Loving the new header. And yes – the road less travelled is a thought that frequently enters my mind when on the commute through the London Underground! ck :) x

Do I spy La Maison Rose in the distance in that photo. Dreamy. I love that place. And the last little vineyard in Paris not far from here. Sigh.

I always seek out the quiet spots in my city. I find spending a few minutes with them improves the day so very much. The top photo is lovely.
