Man in Montmartre Cafe

Man in Montmartre Cafe
Do you like Edward Hopper? He's one of my favorite artists, and lately I've been tempted to throw my hands in the air and finally purchase a poster. I like to buy original art, and swore off poster reproductions after college, but I'd really love some Hopper on the wall.
I'm planning to see his work again at the Whitney in a few weeks, and I've been perusing my favorite paintings online.
I was inspired by Hopper when I took the photo above. A cold night, a man, a cafe and his paper. I don't know why but peering into the window of a warmly lit cafe on a cold winter night is just about the best sight ever.

I completely agree. Even though you are removed and separated, it still feels like you've shared a really intimate moment with that stranger sitting in the cafe. Love those moments.

This photo is just lovely Nichole! I feel like I'd like to join him for a coffee ~ but no that would be intrusive ~ he's quite contents as he is.

Great photo and, yes, there's a definite Hopper feel to the colour and the man's pose.

nichole, I love this photo. And you're right, Edward Hopper is written all over it. I love the loneliness in his paintings (though they are in public places) – something we all know sooner or later.
