Pata Cabra for the Win!
We tried three cheeses on Friday night:
French cow's milk cheese from the Savoie region
French raw cow's milk
They were all incredible, but my heart belongs to Pata Cabra.
I'd take Pata Cabra for a long, moonlit walk on the beach and exchange sweet nothings. I'd introduce Pata Cabra to my parents. I'd be better off if I stopped right there.
I am a huge goat cheese fan, but can honestly say I would not have guessed this was goat. It was so smooth and creamy, not crumbly and drier, which threw me. Perhaps there is a whole world of goat cheese I am about to discover.
For cocktails, Jeri surprised us all with Manhattans! I really enjoyed it, though I rarely drink whisky (okay, let's be honest, they are a whole lot of fun to hold). The Friday night cocktail parties have already coaxed me out of my comfort zone.
After the Manhattans, we switched to Franciscan Cabernet. It's a keeper as well.
On to week three, though I'm tempted to leave cheese curation up to our friends Jeri and Jason. Their picks beat our first week's picks hands down. We really have to up our game.
