Cheese: Week Ten
Our oldest son, Alexander, wanted to be in charge of this week's cheese night. So on Friday afternoon, we took him to Whole Foods to pick out two cheeses. Armed with his new knowledge of Brie, and bolstered by a growing affinity for goat cheese, he chose: Fromager d'Aaffinois Double Cream Brie Capricho de Cabra Goat Cheese We're almost certain he chose the double cream brie based on the fact that it was oozing out of the rind. We had a brie a few weeks ago, and he laughed when it was described as oozing. What can I say? He's six. The goat cheese was selected because of the cool packaging. What can I say? He's my son. Despite the sort of comical selection process, the choices ended up being perfect for the occasion: mild and kid-friendly. Both kids seemed to sense the adult nature of the event and beamed with pride. We poured some apple juice into wine glasses and toasted to their first grown-up party.
