Cheese: Week Twelve
Our friends Jeri and Jason hosted cheese night this week, and they spoiled and surprised us. Check out this menu: Cocktails: Lemongrass mojitos Dinner: Steak, salad and green beans all infused with aromatic ginger and soy Dessert: Four. FOUR desserts. Three of which were cheese (surprise!) We had lemon baked ricotta, sticky toffee cheese and a yogurt/neufchatel blend with mango. In addition to those, Jeri made cheerful little pot de cremes. It was a dessert smorgasbord, and at one point we all pushed ourselves away from the table for a breather. The lemon ricotta looked like a cheese cake, but was less sweet and tangy from the lemon. The sticky toffee cheese was so unique, I'm having trouble coming up with a way to describe it. Kind of like a sweet, mild cheddar with dried fruit. A bit gritty, and good. Dessert cheeses were totally unexpected, and it was a lot of fun to walk away from the evening having tried so many new things. That's what this whole year of cheese thing is about. Thanks Jeri and Jason!
