Bêtes Off

We had a chance to see the Bêtes Off exhibition at the Conciergerie over the weekend. It was part of a larger exhibit throughout France called Monuments et Animaux, with animality as its motif. Some of the pieces were stunning, and even captivated the boys. In the context of the museum and its violent history, the exhibits took on a new meaning - the animals suggesting themes of master vs. slave, violence vs. civilization and survival vs. opulence.

This is so cool. By far the most excellent photos I’ve seen of the exhibit! (Okay, only the second group of photos I’ve seen, lol. But these are STUNNING.) I admire your work and abilities so much. Thanks for sharing this post on Facebook, too, which is how I came over to read. I appreciate it when bloggers do that. :)

I really like how you gave it the intellectual spin with the location being what it is, and the themes you mention. That’s a fairly French way of analyzing it! Good on ya for that! ;-)

And hey — that’s my hubby, Paris Paul, up there, lol. I had no idea he knew about your blog! Although I should not be too surprised about that. :D

Thanks, Nichole.

Hey that’s my friend Karin and hubby Paul up there! Small world indeed.

Interesting exhibit. Good for you for taking the boys along. I love that parents in Paris expose their children to the arts so passionately.
