Ribbed Vaults, Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois

Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois was founded in the 7th century, but rebuilt many times over several centuries. The result is a hybrid style incorporating elements of Roman, Gothic and Renaissance architecture. My favorite of which are these decorative, asymmetrical gothic ribbed vaults. Available in the shop, here.

I’ve never gone inside that church. Thanks for giving me another “must-see” location for my next trip!

Wow, gorgeous details, and even more precise than what the naked eye can see (or, at least, my myopic old eyes ;)

You’re pictures are so beautiful! I just got back from my second trip to Paris, and thought of you as I was taking pictures- especially pictures of vespa’s!

This is sooo beautful. I love a ribbed vault and you have captured it so well! It’s amazing how many of these structures still stand considering how old they are, the height they are and how little is holding them up! Just stunning, thanks for sharing! Jennifer x
