Until we are free

Until we are free

"Until we are all free, we are none of us free." - Emma Lazarus

Best known for her poem The New Colossus, which is inscribed on the Statue of Liberty, Emma Lazarus was an American poet, human rights pioneer and advocate for the poor.

Her poetry is a call for compassion as a path to freedom and equal rights, and this inspiring line distills her message into an impossible to ignore statement. Unshackling human potential is not only the right thing to do, but also builds the necessary bridge between cultures that we need to flourish. A special nod to the Brooklyn Bridge and to Brooklyn, where she was laid to rest.
