Pablo Neruda
"Love is so short, forgetting is so long." - Pablo Neruda
From Neruda's collection Veinte poemas de amor y una canción desesperada, an emotional and sensual exploration of love, infatuation and despair. This particular quote comes from poem 20, "I can write the saddest verse tonight," the narrator's reflection on a broken relationship. In this illustration, a moon is pulled taught by ropes as it inevitably wanes, an attempt to preserve something beautiful even as it fades.
