This is a classic poem for a reason. Hauntingly beautiful in its repetition. The added visuals and text shaping and sizing really emphasized the words. Lovely edition.

I love reading this. I especially love reading it out loud. My only gripe is that I'm not crazy about the name Lenore but who cares.

As always, Obvious State’s illustrations make a perfect compliment to Poe’s heartbreaking tale.

Oooh I read this a couple weeks ago—I wish I’d thought to check Goodreads for this super cute little version, but I didn’t, so I’m making a stab at the date I read it.

Although, when I say “read,” I mean “presented as a dramatic reading in my empty kitchen at 3 in the morning.” 🤣 It reads aloud quite well!!

Obvious State did a great job with this wee book. It’s very fun!

Can’t go wrong with Poe!

I love all of the Obvious State books and recently kickstarted the newest set of ten, the first six of which were sent early and two of which were still being made. I am doing the beginnings of these the same before adding some commentary in under since I flew through them all this week. The art is what makes these books forever and ever and ever amen. It's why they make them, taking the classics that touch our hearts so deeply and displaying them across the pages of these books.

This piece was a little more sedate than I honestly expected of it after a million years of seeing Raven things. It's was calm and classic and didn't over inundate the reader with images of ravens on each piece, but sparingly chose exactly which words, where, how to show the single and the mass. Bravi.

Nice short black-white illustrated book :)

When you are tired, oh so tired, that you start napping while reading, a sudden noise can be quite startling. And if you were reading to escape your state of grief over a lost love - one who has died and is thus "nevermore" going to be near you again... to wake from that slumber and be confronted with all your emotions again and be confronted with the reality of the finality of death, you just may be a bit off your rocker. But Poe had such a beautiful way of conveying all of that in his poem "The Raven, that it is just haunting.

Obvious State "is a creative studio in pursuit of wisdom and beauty", and that is definitely seen in its publication of this poem. The wisdom to know and realize that death is final is beautifully brought to light in this rendition that uses white and black pages to convey the turmoil of emotions being felt by the narrator. The images did not detract from the words, but only enhanced them - especially how the raven was incorporated so deliberately into other images. The details are fun, and makes this (as if it already wasn't) a delightful read.

Clever illustrations enhance the meaning of the poem; I am glad I have it as a keepsake.

Oh, this is exquisite. The light and dark move according to the mood of the poem, helping to raise and release the tension. It brings a new experience when reading the poem again, even after reading it dozens of times before. There are so many beautiful details I know I’ll continue to delight in this volume for a long time.
